My Hair Type

Before diving into this article, I want to clarify my hair type for reference. I have naturally wavy hair. It is dense but fine. Sometimes I wear it naturally. Sometimes I blow it out and add texture to it with a curling iron. As for color, I am a natural blonde that gets high lift highlights every four months.

Why Non-Toxic Hair Care?

When I switched to clean beauty products a decade ago, the first products I swapped out were haircare. Most conventional shampoos and conditioners contain harsh surfactants, like sulfates, that strip hair follicles of oil (and color!) This stripping can lead to frizzy hair and cause allergic scalp reactions! Phthalates are another big no-no for me in haircare, actually ANY personal care product, as they are endocrine disruptors. Endocrine disruptors mess with our hormones and cause early puberty in girls and reduced sperm count in men. Ingredients in conventional shampoos and conditioners (think L’Oreal and Redkin) are also harmful to the environment. I use non-toxic hair care to lessen my toxic load and help the environment.

• SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner is the ULTIMATE styling product. (I’ve emptied six bottles of this product!) This water- and glycerin-based leave-in conditioner is best applied to damp, freshly washed hair. It works as a detangler and heat protectant, making it a versatile every day haircare product. I like to use SmartStart right after towel drying my hair to detangle and prevent heat damage. • WonderBalm Magic for Curls this fantastic hair serum makes for a great pre-blowdry and natural curl styling product! WonderBalm tames flyaways, provides heat protection, and adds shine. I’m on my second bottle, and I have loved how silky and smooth it leaves my hair WITHOUT weighing it down. I mostly use this serum as a pre-blow dry protectant, and my fine, wavy hair loves how lightweight it is and how shiny (not oily) it leaves my hair! Find WonderBalm, HERE.
• TotalControl Styling Crème is a volumizing styling product. It is meant to be applied directly to the roots of wet hair and can be used with heat to create a sleeker do or without heat for natural curls with a bit more volume at the root. TotalControl is lighter than a cream but thicker than a gel, and I recommend using a tiny amount, as a little goes a long way to add volume. Find TotalControl, HERE.
• SuperFinish Polishing Balm is a bit thicker in texture than Total Control. It is also to be used on the bottom half of the hair as opposed to the root. I have a mini of this that I keep in my gym bag to use after working out. I like that it has a heat protectant and tames fly away without weighing down hair or making it feel gunky! SuperFinish can be used on dry, freshly blown-out hair to tame frizz and flyaways or to heat prep damp hair and make it easier to work with while blow drying. Find SuperFinish, HERE.
• SmartColor Protecting Shampoo + Conditioner is my favorite shampoo and conditioner set from EVOLVh, I have the jumbo size of these two in my shower and they have lasted me over a year! The shampoo cleanses my scalp without leaving a residue, or stripping my hair and the conditioner adds moisture without weighing my hair down. Find SmartColor, HERE.
• UltraShine Moisture Shampoo + Conditioner is a close second to the SmartColor set. The UltraShine Conditioner is a bit thinner in texture than SmartColor, so I have to use more of it to get the same moisture-rich effects. UltraShine Shampoo is similar to SmartColor Shampoo, so I don’t have anything to add. It cleanses my scalp well and doesn’t strip my hair of its natural oils. Find UltraShine, HERE.

2. Innersense Hair Non-Toxic Hair Care Brands

One of the most popular brands in the clean hair space is Innersense. I’ve been using Innersense products for the last few years; some are hits, and others are misses (the Detox Hair Mask isn’t one I love.) After using Innersense for a bit, I’ve concluded that this non-toxic hair care brand is best for those who wear their hair naturally. Read more below for my thoughts on why!

Innersense Hair Products Reviews

• Innersense Bright Balance Shampoo & Conditioner is the newest line of shampoo and conditioner from Innersense. These two are formulated to brighten and neutralize brass for those with blonde, grey, or white hair. I have liked how these wash and condition my hair. My hair doesn’t feel gunky after use but isn’t left feeling dry, either. As for the brassiness factor, that is something I’ve never struggled with as a blonde, but I have only been using these for a couple of weeks, so if I see a significant difference, I will update you all! • Innersense Hair Love Prep Spray is my favorite detangler and heat protectant from Innersense. I found the Sweet Spirit Leave-In Conditioner too light for my fine yet abundant hair. I need something with more proteins in it, and Hair Love Prep Spray has Vitamin B and rice proteins for strength! Find Hair Love Prep HERE.
• Innersense Hydrating Hair Mask is my favorite hair mask that I’ve ever tried. I usually don’t notice much difference between a hair mask and a conditioner, but this one is more thick and creamy. This mask is different from others because it uses glycerin in its base, which adds hydration instead of moisture. A lot of butters (moisturizers) can be too heavy by themselves. The formulation of the Hydrating Hair Mask is so well done and one of my favorite Innersense products. Find Hydrating Hair Mask HERE. 
• Innersense I Create Waves is a Pink Himalayan salt spray that adds texture and enhances waves; think mermaid hair. I have loved this salt spray. It draws humidity into my hair when I wear it naturally, but the salt combats frizz. It’s a different formulation than other similar products I’ve tried. (I love the scent of this because it smells fresh and has lavender oil.) Find I Create Waves HERE. 

• Innersense I Create Shine & Innersense Harmonic Treatment Oil; the difference between these two products is simple. Harmonic Treatment Oil is a pre-shampoo balancing product that is great for scalp massage. I Create Shine is a post-blowout oil that acts more like a shine serum. • Innersense Inner Peace Whipped Creme Texturizer smells like an orange creamsicle. This is not the only reason I like this product, but it is one of them! I have been impressed with this texturizing cream because it is lightweight and doesn’t weigh down my natural waves. Inner Peace uses honey to add moisture, adding flexible definition to hair. I highly recommend this product for the curly girl method, and I have loved it myself for days I go natural. Find Inner Peace Whipped Creme Texturizer HERE. 
• Innersense Pure Harmony Hair Bath & Innersense Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner is my favorite every day (or every few days because I’m not washing and styling my hair daily) shampoo and conditioner duo from Innersense. Pure Harmony Hair Bath has that orange creamsicle scent that I SO love. It cleanses my scalp and leaves my ends nourished, not dry. Pure Inspiration Daily Conditioner replenishes the hair after cleansing without adding buildup or weight. Pure Inspiration has jasmine and grapefruit as its scent, which I love less than the orange, the product overall is formulated well, but the smell is not my fave. • Innersense Refresh Dry Shampoo is one of the BEST non-toxic dry shampoos for curly girls (keep in mind I have 2A/2B hair.) I love that Refresh has a water and witch hazel base (witch hazel is an astringent that helps with scalp sensitivity)but also has natural, oil-absorbing ingredients like tapioca to refresh (punny, huh!) hair. When I revive my natural style, I use watery products; I’ll use Hair Love Prep Spray to bring the bounce back to my do. So, the liquid base of Refresh is perfect for my needs! • Innersense Serenity Smoothing Cream is a heat-protectant blowout cream with a citrus floral scent (like an orange creamsicle bouquet mix.) I used this today to blow dry my hair, which feels silky smooth! I am impressed by this cream because it doesn’t weigh my hair down but leaves it frizz-free! Find Serenity Smoothing Cream HERE.

3. Rahua Non-Toxic Hair Care Brands

Rahua was one of the first clean haircare lines I lusted after. I loved the idea of hair products with ingredients from the Amazonian Rainforest! Sadly, I was disappointed by the first shampoo and conditioner set I tried from them, the Classic line because it dried my hair. I waited a bit and then tested their Hydration line, which I liked MUCH more. I haven’t tried a ton of Rahua products, and the few I have tried are hit-and-miss, but they have a few jewels that I want to share below.

Rahua Reviews

• Rahua Voluminous Dry Shampoo is a very well-designed product! It’s a non-aerosol dry shampoo that works by squeezing the tube at the bottom, and the dry shampoo comes out through the top and sprays lightly. The shampoo is a powder formulation; it smells like vanilla and is very lightweight. It does add volume at the root and absorbs oil to keep hair going past day 2. Find Voluminous Dry Shampoo HERE. 
• Rahua Hydration Shampoo & Conditioner is my favorite cleansing and nourishing line of Rahua. The Classic Line dried out my hair, and The Color Full line was better than the Classic but nothing that shocked me. The Hydration line cleansed my scalp and nourished my hair so that my hair felt refreshed after cleansing and also soft and manageable. Find the Hydration Duo HERE.
• Rahua Enchanted Island Shampoo is a new one to me. I have been using this for the last couple of washes, and I like the scent of guava and coconut fusion. I also like how it cleanses my scalp; my hair doesn’t feel gunky at the roots, and my strands aren’t dry. Find the Enchanted Island Shampoo HERE. 

4. Captain Blankenship Review

I tried quite a bit of Captain Blankenship‘s Sailor line (a Target exclusive) a few years back. I will link the video below. They relaunched their main line in 2022, and I got their newly re-formulated Shampoo, Conditioner, and Sea Salt Spray. I’m sharing my thoughts on this line below!

Captain Blankenship Non-Toxic Hair Care Brands

• Captain Blankenship Sea Salt Spray is my favorite hair product from the line. It has a fresh, sea-like scent and feels lightweight on the hair. It has an aloe and glycerin base, so this Sea Salt Spray is SO hydrating for the hair. It doesn’t make my locks dry or stiff, but it holds my waves in place and combats frizzes. I also use this on dry hair to lock in my style. Find the Sea Salt Spray HERE. 
• Captain Blankenship Shampoo & Conditioner is not my favorite line for cleansing and moisturizing my tresses. The packaging is lovely as it is an aluminum bottle, which can be recycled infinitely. My issue with the shampoo is that it is too thin in texture and dries out my hair. The conditioner is also too light to add much hydration after shampooing. I can see someone with really fine and thin hair liking this, and it has a lovely lemongrass and vanilla scent, but my fine thick hair wasn’t a fan. Find the Shampoo & Conditioner HERE.

5. Drunk Elephant Hair Care Review

I was interested in Drunk Elephant’s Hair Care because of the PACKAGING! It is modern and trendy! That is, sadly, the downfall of their haircare line. Due to the weird (stylish) shape of their shampoo and conditioner bottles and the thick formulations of said products, it is nearly impossible to get the product out to use them! They are just sitting in my shower, hoping to be used, but I can’t get the dang shampoo or conditioner out of there. So, I like only two products from the hair care line. Please read below to discover what they are.

Drunk Elephant Non-Toxic Hair Care Brands

• Drunk Elephant Wild Marula Tangle Spray is a detangler and heat protectant. This has a light sweet almond scent, but I was most impressed with the formulation. It did help to soften my hair after washing and detangling without leaving any residue. Find the Wild Marula Tangle Spray HERE. 
• Drunk Elephant TLC Happi Scalp Scrub is a thoughtfully packaged scalp product! I love how the Happi Scrub tip makes it easy to directly access the scalp and place the product, so it is easy to spread. It did exfoliate my scalp, and I recommend this! Find the TLC Happi Scalp Scrub HERE. 

6. Lovesong Beauty Hair Review

Lovesong Beauty is an independently owned and operated line of beauty and haircare that launched in 2020. The first two products I tried from them were their Weightless Leave-In Conditioner and Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel. Please read below for my thoughts on these two popular products and the rest of the line!

Lovesong Dry Shampoo Gel + More!

• Lovesong Evergreen Shampoo smells like a spa. It has a decadent eucalyptus scent. I like this formulation because it is thick and suds up enough to lift the sweat and oil from my scalp, but it uses nourishing ingredients in the formulation that are non-stripping. • Lovesong Ultralush Conditioner also smells like a spa. The formulation of this conditioner is thick and creamy, making it almost like a daily hair conditioning mask (not that I wash my hair daily, but you get the picture.) My hair is nourished after using this conditioner, and I don’t need a detangler! Find the Lovesong Evergreen Conditioner HERE. 
• Lovesong Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel is an innovative dry shampoo in the clean space. This is an invisible, fast-drying gel to be applied to the scalp. Invisible Dry Shampoo isn’t like Aussies’ alcohol-ridden gel. It has nourishing ingredients like aloe, green tea, and algae. It also has a sweet floral scent that leaves hair smelling fresh. • Lovesong Weightless Leave-In Conditioner is a post-hair wash, leave-in product. Weightless Leave-In provides locks with hydration, combats frizz, detangles, and offers heat protection. Non-Toxic Hair Care Brands

I want to end this non-toxic hair care brands post talking about products that don’t fall under one brand’s category. The brands mentioned above are purely hair care and body care brands. There have been a few fantastic hair care products launched by skincare lines and small independent lines that only have one or two products. Below I’m sharing my thoughts on these singleton products!

• Dae Signature Shampoo & Signature Conditioner is a Clean at Sephora line I discovered while perusing the aisles one day. I was impressed by the tangy yet sweet grapefruit scent. I picked up their mini sizes to try them out on my locks, and I was pretty impressed! The Signature Shampoo is nourishing, yet cleansed my scalp well. The Signature Conditioner is equally as nourishing and left my tresses moistured but not weighed down. Find the Signature Shampoo & Conditioner HERE. 
• Bathing Culture Kelp Forest Shampoo & Good Seed Conditioner is a new set featured in the January 2023 Beauty Heroes Discovery. I was happy to try these because shampoo and conditioner are tricky to formulate, but Bathing Culture hit these out of the park! These have a unisex forest and herb scent. The shampoo is bubbly and cleanses very well; no stripping here! The conditioner is nourishing and moisturizing without being too heavy. Find Bathing Culture Shampoo & Conditioner HERE. 
• Goop Beauty G. Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo is my favorite scalp scrub. This guy has a refreshing peppermint scent and is super invigorating. I was most impressed with this because many scalp scrubs are too thick, don’t have any slip, and don’t cleanse the scalp well; this does. I can feel it exfoliating my scalp! Find Goop Beauty G. • Kaia Naturals The Takesumi Detox Overnight Dry Shampoo comes in two tints, blonde for light hair and brunette for dark hair. I have loved the fresh scent of the blonde-tinted dry shampoo. Takesumi is lightweight and not too gritty. Although the brand claims it’s an overnight product, I have no problem using it in the daytime as it absorbs oil without leaving a chalky finish because it is tinted. • Maya Chia Power Fol Advanced Multi-Correctional Scalp and Hair Treatment is a non-toxic Rogain (it smells WAY better too!) Power Fol is not just a lightweight treatment. It is formulated to add volume to existing hair to create a fuller effect. The formulation includes: peptides, amino acids, vegetable collagen, and fermented minerals to nourish hair follicles. Ginseng and caffeine stimulate the scalp to support maximum hair growth. Maya Chia has an accompanying guasha tool for the scalp that works with Power Fol to promote hair growth. • Ranavat Fortifying Hair Serum is a pre-shampoo Jasmine-infused treatment oil. This hair serum is medium weight and is not intended to be a styling product (obviously, if it works that way for you, great!) I have been using this as a hair mask, massaging it into my scalp, down to my ends, letting it set for 20 minutes, and washing my hair as usual. • True Botanicals Shine & Protect Hair Cream Oil is an emulsion hair styling product. This cream oil has a glycerin and green tea leaf water base, which provides lightweight hydration and style retention. It also uses avocado oil and olive oil, which provide heat styling protection. • Agent Nateur & Dara Kaye Soft Hydrating Hair Serum can be used on wet or dry hair. I prefer to use this on dry hair as a lightweight finishing product. It makes my hair shiny but not weighted down or greasy looking. The ingredients deck includes French Silk Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid, and Monoi. What Happened with Bobbi Brown and Jones Road?

Bobbi Brown is a well-known makeup artist, and entrepreneur, who initially founded Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in 1991. Bobbi sold Bobbi Brown to Estee Lauder in 1995. She stayed with her namesake brand until 2016 and had a non-compete with the line when she left. Once the non-compete expired, Brown decided she wanted to start another makeup brand. While her friend was driving down the street in the Hamptons, she saw a road called “Jones Road.” The friend told Bobbi the name and she liked it because it sounded British, and it was available to use. The Jones Road tagline is “Cool. Clean. Makeup.” Bobbi wanted to create a cosmetics company that reflected the needs of today’s consumers. She envisioned more shade inclusion and cleaner ingredients than her previous makeup line. Brown raised $150 million and launched Jones Road Beauty during the pandemic. Jones Road has no retail partners in The US, and only one brick-and-mortar store in Montclair, NJ, along with their E-commerce store. The line is focusing on India internationally and is partnered with several pharmacies and has brick-and-mortar stores there as well.

The Best: Jone Road The Face Pencil

I was surprised by how much I liked The Face Pencil (I use Shade 2) more than the ultra-viral What The Foundation. The formulation is creamy enough to blend out and look natural on the skin but has enough wax to stay put for an extended period. I prefer a less is more approach to makeup, so I prefer using The Face Pencil under my eyes, around my nose, and on blemishes. It blends out like a dream! I like blending with fingers or a brush, which leaves a medium coverage. I can build it up, but I want to look like I’m not wearing any base products on my face, so that’s not my typical style. The Best: The Mascara

The Jones Road The Mascara is my all-time favorite volumizing mascara in the clean makeup space. I am on my third tube. This mascara leaves my lashes fluttery and voluptuous without the dry cheek fallout. The wand is similar to a thick pipe cleaner and slightly curved. My only complaint about this mascara is that I want them to make a brown version! I have started wearing brown mascara more regularly, as I have pretty full lashes but am very pale. I feel brown is a bit more understated and daytime-friendly for the office, too. Find The Mascara, HERE!

The Best: The Bronzer Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty

I have tried The Bronzer in Dusty Rose and The Gel Bronzer in Light and prefer The Bronzer in Dusty Rose. It’s much more foolproof, and mistakes can be easily forgiven. I also love the shade of it! It’s not too brown and not too red. It’s the perfect cool bronzing shade for us pale ladies! I highly recommend The Bronzer Brush to compliment The Bronzer. It’s not as dense as a foundation brush, but the bristles are more compact than a powder brush. It works wonderfully with this densely packed bronzer to transfer and diffuse the product onto the lower points of my face. Find The Bronzer, HERE!

Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty: Just A Sec or Sparkle Wash?

The Just a Sec (I have Golden Peach) and Sparkle Wash (I have shade Gilded) are one-and-done eyeshadow products from Jones Road. They have very different formulations, and their wear has slight nuances. The Just a Sec eyeshadow is a cream-to-powder that feels bouncy in its pot. The Sparkle Wash is a liquid eyeshadow with a doe foot applicator. Fingers work best with the Just a Sec, and I prefer to apply the Sparkle Wash with the doe foot and then blend it with my pinky finger. The Just a Sec has a shimmery finish, whereas the Sparkle Wash has a glittery finish, refined glitter, NOT chunky glitter. Both are very light, but Just a Sec has a more opaque base than The Sparkle Wash, which has a translucent base. I slightly prefer the Just a Sec shadow because of its unique formulation, but The Sparkle Wash is beautiful and holds a place in my shadow collection. Find Just a Sec and The Sparkle Wash, HERE!

Jones Road Beauty: The Best Pencil

I have never given differential treatment to eyeliner, but Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty The Best Pencil is THE BEST eyeliner pencil. I have this in black, and it is so good because it is so versatile. It’s creamy enough to smudge it out on my lash line, but it has enough wax if I want a super precise line. It’s long-wearing, and I have raved about it on my YouTube Channel for the longest time. I have the Brown and Violet shades in my shopping bag for fall! Find The Best Pencil, HERE!

The Best: Jones Road Beauty The Lip Tint

I was surprised by how much I like The Lip Tint by Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty. I’ve tried many lip products, so I thought I would not be impressed with The Lip Tint’s formulation. They leave my lips pigmented, moisturized, and tinted. I like these because the finish is shiny and not opaque. They have a nice pigment payoff, but I see my natural color peeping through. I prefer this to an opaque formulation because it looks more flattering as it wears down. Find The Lip Tint, HERE! *I have shades: Cocoa Rose, Just Pinky, Mocha Rose Shimmer, Nude Mauve, and Valencia Orange.

The Best: The Cool Gloss

I feel similarly about The Cool Gloss as I do about The Lip Tint. I thought it would be too basic and sticky. But The Cool Gloss has a great formulation! It has a nice cooling peppermint flavor, leaving my lips glossy and moisturized. It is not overly thick, not too runny, and not too sticky. I also like that The Cool Gloss comes in a squeezy tube; it makes my ’90s’s kid heart happy. The packaging makes it more versatile because I can wear The Cool Gloss by itself or on top of an opaque lipstick to make it more sleek and shiny. When I wear the gloss (I have the clear shade, High Shine), on top of a tinted lip product, I don’t compromise the clear Cool Gloss because I can wipe the applicator clean! Is The Best Blush, Really The Best?

I recently got The Best Blush in shades P.O.P. and Peachy, and I’m pretty impressed with their formulation. Both blushes are buttery and have a nice pigment payoff. I always worry that blush will be too pigmented, but these add the perfect amount of rosiness to the cheeks without looking like Mimi from The Drew Carry Show. I prefer the pink shade in P.O.P. because it goes best with my pale skin. Peachy tones have never been the best for me because I am so pale that the orange tones can work as a contour shade. P.O.P. does have some glitter in it, but it is very understated. The finish of Peachy is more shimmery. I also like The Best Blush’s small, compact size because it only takes up as much room in my makeup bag when I take it to the gym. Find The Best Blush, HERE!

Jones Road Lip & Cheek Stick Review

After trying multiple “multi-use” products over the years, I believe they are NEVER multi-use. This kind of product works best on the lips or cheeks, not the lips and cheeks. The Jones Road Lip & Cheek Stick is no exception. This formulation is a bit too oily to stick to the cheeks, and as I blend it out, it blends away. It’s pretty moisturizing, so it works well on the lips. I have shades Chocolate Mocha and Mauve Rose. I like Chocolate Mocha. It’s a reddish brown and the perfect lip shade for fall. I thought I would like Mauve Rose because it is a bit more of a pink shade, but I found that it almost disappears on my skin tone when I blend it out. My overall consensus is that Chocolate Mocha is the best shade from the Lip & Cheek Sticks I tried, but it only wears well on the lips. Check out The Best Blush for the cheeks. Jones Road Gel Bronzer Review

The Jones Road Gel Bronzer (I have Shade Light) is one of the latest additions to Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty. I much prefer the powder The Bronzer. My issue with The Gel Bronzer is that it dries too quickly, so it can dry and be super patchy if you work slowly. This is NOT a foolproof product. Once it is on, it’s on. Does Jones Road What The Foundation Have SPF?

No, the Jones Road Foundation does NOT have SPF, so a light sunscreen like the one here should be worn underneath it. The Jones Road What The Foundation went viral on TikTok recently, and I don’t understand why… It has too much wax in its base, so it feels stiff on my skin. It doesn’t have the whipped creamy finish like my most beloved foundation. I was shocked this was the product from the line that went viral as it wears heavy and feels stiff on the skin. Mine was also chunky. I don’t know if it was just my foundation, but because this is the one that I got, I had to share my experience with you all. Find the What The Foundation, HERE!

Jones Road Miracle Balm In Happy Hour

Happy Hour is the newest shade of Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty Miracle Balm. The first time I tried the Miracle Balm, I made a mistake and purchased the shade Tawny. The brand was new then and had yet to release much product information. I thought Miracle Balm was supposed to be a tinted product, like a blush; it is not. The Miracle Balm is a beauty industry disrupter. It was meant to be a moisturizer, and it came out as this emollient, creamy balm that has a very minimal amount of pigment and a bit of illumination. Tawny was meant to be a skin perfecter for medium to dark skin tones, and I have very light, pale skin. I recently got the Miracle Balm in Happy Hour, and it is a much better choice for my skin tone. I’m still getting used to this product because it’s a different category than tinted moisturizer and illuminator; it’s more of a two-in-one for all over the face. So far, I like Happy Hour but only occasionally reach for it. Find The Miracle Balm, HERE!

Conclusion

After years of trying various beauty products, specifically in the clean and green space, Jones Road Beauty fills some much-needed gaps in this niche part of the beauty industry. Very few brands come into clean beauty and release a whole line of products from the go. Their Miracle Balm is an industry disruptor, even if I’m still getting the hang of it.

Through the years, I have tried almost every product from Kypris, and there’s one specific serum that I’ve returned to FOUR times. There are a few products I haven’t loved, the Facial Oils break me out, and the Deep Forrest Clay mask is much too intensive for my skin type. Speaking of, I was normal/combo for years, and as of 2023, my skin has been more dry and sensitive. Through this transition, I fell in love with some newer-to-me Kyrpis products because they were so gentle and non-irritating for my new sensitive/eczema-prone skin.

1. Kypris Antioxidant Dew – Kypris Beauty Review

I want to start with my favorite and most purchased, Kypris product, their Antioxidant Dew. I have emptied three bottles of this serum; the one pictured is my fourth bottle. The milky texture of this serum is divine! It has a Glycerin, Sunflower Seed Oil, and Camellia Seed Oil base. The main ingredients are Encapsulated Vitamins C & E, Hawaiian Ocean Extracts, and Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline Amino Acid. I have repeatedly repurchased this serum because the ingredients are gentle yet potent. My skin is left hydrated and glowing — NEVER irritated. My eczema is kept at bay when using the Kypris Antioxidant Dew, and I will keep repurchasing it! Shop the Antioxidant Dew, HERE!

2. Kypris Beauty Cerulean Mask

I love the Cerulean Mask. I won’t beat around the bush. It is expensive AF. It was a little over $200. I don’t use this as a 20-minute mask, then rinse it off. I have been using this mask overnight, like a thick serum. First, I wash my face, use a toner, use the Cerulean, and then place an occlusive (balm) over it—the occlusive locks in all of the goodness that the Cerulean Mask delivers to my skin. The peptides in this mask are some of the BEST in green skincare. My skin is SO plump from these peptides! It has a beautiful mix of Cherry Blossom Extract, Algae, Encapsulated Superoxide Dismutase, and more! I have experienced no irritation using the Cerulean Mask as an overnight treatment, and I feel like I get my money’s worth using it the way I do. 3. Kypris Cleanser Concentrate – Kypris Beauty Review

The Kypris Cleanser Concentrate was not appealing when I started using the Kypris line. I had tried samples, which were too thick and creamy for my liking, but then I developed eczema patches. The Cleanser Concentrate has been a life-changing cleanser for my dry, irritated, and sensitized skin. Asiaticoside is in the cleanser, an isolate of the soothing plant Centella Asiatica. The use of this is a bit more old school; think your mom’s Ponds Cold Cream, but bougie and botanical. It’s effective enough to apply on dry skin and use as a one-stop makeup remover and cleanser but gentle enough to rinse clean without irritation. Shop the Cleanser Concentrate, HERE!

4. Kypris Puff of Love Moisturizer

I started using Kypris Puff of Love recently and couldn’t leave it out of my Kypris Beauty Review! I was concerned about using this because I had not had the best luck with the line’s oils. Kypris’ serums were the only products I loved, but I have been very impressed with Puff of Love! It is a heavier weight than what I’ve seen advertised. It is not super occlusive but lighter than a lotion. It’s an actual cream with antioxidant-rich Glutathione. It is very absorbent, and it has a rose/floral scent profile to it. Due to its heavier, more pudding-like consistency, I prefer Kypris’ Puff of Love in the evening and something a bit lighter in the morning. Shop Kypris Puff of Love Moisturizer, HERE!

5. Kypris Illuminating Serum & Primer

The Kypris Illuminating Eye Serum is one of my favorite eye products. I had to include it in my Kypris Beauty Review! I prefer the Kypris Illuminating Eye Serum to the Ad Astra Eye Cream. Ad Astra is too rich and thick for me, but the Illuminating Eye Serum is lightweight and quickly absorbs in my under-eye region. I’m prone to milia and do not get them with this eye serum. I like the illuminating particles from mica as well. They don’t take away from the effectiveness of the skincare, and they aren’t overly glittery. Rahua Dry Shampoo Review

The packaging of the Rahua Voluminous Dry Shampoo is unique! Instead of a pump on top to release the product, you squeeze the bottom of the product, causing the product to come out through the top nozzle due to pressure. The scent of the Rahua Dry Shampoo is sweet like candy and reminds me of Sweetarts. I’ve found the Rahua Voluminous Dry Shampoo to be a bit gritty, but the git helps absorb the oiliness of my scalp. I spray this directly on my scalp, which is the most effective way to use this dry shampoo. I like this dry shampoo because I can spray it directly onto my scalp, and the product doesn’t get wasted on my hands and fingertips!

The Kaia Naturals Overnight Dry Shampoo in Blonde has a pump dispenser intended to be used at night, although I’ve used it in the morning with no issues. Rice Starch, Arrowroot Powder, and Kaolin Clay work together to absorb oil and refresh day two hair. The Kaia Naturals Dry Shampoo has a floral scent and a light texture. I have the blonde option, which doesn’t leave my hair chalky looking as it is cream color. The Takesumi is very lightweight and quickly absorbed into the scalp, reviving my hair! I apply this to my fingertips before rubbing it into my scalp. I’ve found this to be the most effective application method.

Innersense Refresh Dry Shampoo

The Innersense Refresh Dry Shampoo has a unique foam texture, unlike any other dry shampoo on this list! It is wet instead of dry, and a powder is suspended in a liquid to create Refresh’s consistency. This non-aerosol dry shampoo has a sweet orange scent, very light and refreshing. I have found it to be one of the best for refreshing and reshaping curly day-two hair. If using this on heat-styled hair, I recommend applying it to the roots with fingertips and then blasting your scalp with a blowdryer.

Captain Blankenship Dry Shampoo

The latest product launch from Captain Blankenship is their non-aerosol dry shampoo. This dry shampoo has a lightweight powder texture, and it can be applied to the roots with fingertips or directly sprayed and dispersed into the scalp from the pump. It has a floral, rose scent, not overpowering but light. I’ve found this one to be pretty to work with, and it does come in a “dark” option for those with deeper blonde to black hair. I have the regular option, which works well for my ash-blonde hair.

Lovesong Invisible Dry Shampoo

Through the green beauty rumor mill, I have heard that the Lovesong Invisible Dry Shampoo is no longer being made, which I’m pretty sad about! This had SUCH a unique gel formulation! I loved to apply this gel onto my scalp with my fingertips to revive day two (or three!) hair and then blast my roots with a blowdryer. The oil in my scalp would dissipate, and my roots would be lifted and more volumized. I loved the scent of this, too, florally but sweet too. I’m sad this has been discontinued, but I recommend checking out the rest of their hairline HERE.

Tower 28 Milky Lip Jellies are a great way to add a touch of hydration and shine to the lips. I love how lightweight the formula is and how it gives a subtle shine. The milky texture helps to keep lips feeling soft and hydrated all day. The color payoff is excellent, and the shades are perfect for everyday wear. The Milky Lip Jellies are more neutral in tone than the previously mentioned lip glosses. I recommend these, and they are under $20!

Tower 28 Beauty Review JuiceBalm

Tower 28 JuiceBalm is a fantastic tinted lip balm that nourishes and moisturizes with a pop of color. It’s made with natural ingredients and is perfect for everyday use. The balm is lightweight and not too sticky, nourishing the lips while adding a bright pop of color. The pigment of this balm wears coats the lips and wears opaque. It looks like a stain but isn’t drying like a stain. My lips feel softer and smoother after using this product. I highly recommend it!

Tower 28 Beauty Review Multi-Liner

The Multi Liner for lips, eyes, and cheeks is a great way to simplify your makeup routine. It’s easy to use, and the colors are vibrant and long-lasting. The formula glides on smoothly and doesn’t smudge or fade quickly. I was skeptical of this multi-liner; how could it work to line my lips & eyes and work as a cheek product too? I have been using Fill Me In (a rosy/pink beige shade), and it is a refreshing pop of color on my lash line without being bold or overstated. It wears nicely on the lips and cheeks too! It is creamy, so the transfer is quick and easy, but it has a drier hold, so the pigment stays in place. I was so surprised I liked this, and I consider it a multi-use after using it multiple ways. (Oh, it’s also $15–STEAL!)

Tower 28 Make Waves Lengthening Mascara

Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of Tower 28’s mascara. I am not obsessed with silicon mascara wands in general. The positives of this mascara are that it does not smudge and does a decent job of defining my lashes. I don’t love it because the side of the brush that adds volume is SUPER messy. I have seen this mascara go viral, and I don’t understand why? There are some fantastic volumizing mascaras, like Jones Road Beauty’s Mascara, and some great defining and lengthening mascaras, like Ilia’s Limitless Lash Mascara. The Make Waves Mascara is not bad for me, but it isn’t a favorite.

SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen

Tower 28 SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen is an excellent product for anyone looking for a foundation that provides an extra layer of protection. The tint is enough to give a subtle, natural-looking glow without looking orange or greasy. It’s not thick and absorbs into the skin, making it appear dewy and not oily. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. I like that this has SPF, but I still use another SPF underneath to protect my skin.

BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm

Tower 28 BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm is an excellent multi-use tinted lip and cheek product. I have been impressed with the pigment in these balms! I have three very different shades Power Hour (a deep terracotta), Magic Hour (a rosy beige), and Rush Hour (a peachy pink). The pigment of this product is opaque, and the formulation is creamy. This product doesn’t have a dewy finish, and it’s more satin-matte. As a lip product, it leaves the lips moisturized and pigmented. On the cheeks, these Tinted Balms leave the cheeks rosy and moistured!

Sculptino versus Bronzino

The Tower 28 Sculptino and the Tower 28 Bronzino are both bronzer balms. One is designed to give the skin a sun-kissed glow, while the other works best to contour. Both come in a convenient, portable compact with a smooth texture that allows easy application. The main difference is the shade; the Sculptino is a matte bronzer, while the Bronzino is a shimmery gold bronzer. The Sculptino is better for those looking to carve out their cheekbones, and the Bronzino is best for those who want to add a sun-kissed glow. The Sculptino is oilier in formulation/texture and the Bronzino is creamier. Both products can be used on the cheeks simultaneously, as they have different purposes.

SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray Tower 28 Beauty Review

The Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray is a great choice for anyone looking to keep their skin hydrated and refreshed. It has relieved my skin during its worst days of eczema. It is made with soothing ingredients like water, sodium chloride, and hypochlorous acid. These all provide an immediate and long-term reprieve from eczema and skin sensitivity. The spray is lightweight and fast-absorbing, leaving skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. It helps to reduce redness and calm skin. The packaging is also great. I love the bright, fun color! Hailey Bieber’s Favorite Cleansing Oil

The first step in Hailey Bieber’s evening skincare routine is the Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil. She says of the cleansing oil: “This is definitely my favorite oil cleanser; I love it so much. I’ve repurchased it many, many times.” I have to agree with Hailey. I’m on my third bottle of this first cleanse! I love the tropical scent and that it rinses clean. It doesn’t cause oily, blurred vision, IYKYK… I like that this is in a liquid form too. It makes removing makeup super easy. Something about it not being in balm form makes it unique. Botanical B Cleansing Oil is One Love Organic’s best-selling product.

One Love Organics Botanical A Facial Cleanser

The One Love Organics Botanical A Cleanser is WAY different than the Botanical B Oil Cleanser. It is a gel cleanser and not an oil cleanser. It is NOT formulated with any SLS, but it suds up when water is added. The Botanical A Cleanser smells like grapefruit and is developed with AHAs and BHAs that work to chemically exfoliate the skin and gently sweep away dead skin cells. I was impressed that this cleanser does not strip or dry out the skin, and I’m on my second bottle!

Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser One Love Organics Review

The Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser is pleasantly surprising! I hear few people talk about it on social media, as the Botanical A and B cleansers are more prominent. The Easy Does It Cleanser has no scent and is light and gentle. It is a gel facial cleanser and can also be used as a body wash. The Botanical A Cleanser has mild acids that chemically exfoliate. Easy Does It isn’t as complex. It’s a great daily cleanser, and I like to keep a bottle in my shower. *This is the OLO cleanser I would recommend to those with sensitive skin.

Brand New Day One Love Organics Review

One of One Love Organics’ newly reformulated products is their Brand New Day Microderma Scrub + Masque. I have been struggling with eczema, so I put off trying this for a bit. But I’ve been using this for the last week, and I’m impressed with it! It is a creamy base, and the physical exfoliant is a fine and gentle mineral composition. This also has chemical exfoliants that come from mango and banana extracts, and for even more of a tropical feel, this has OLO’s Vacation in a Bottle Scent! Think Pina Coladas. Because my skin has been so sensitive lately, I’m using this sparingly, twice a week at the absolute most. Also, I don’t use this as a mask currently. I use it like a cream cleanser and immediately rinse it off my face.

One Love Organics Botanical D Moisture Mist

The One Love Organics Botanical D Moisture Mist has SUCH a unique formulation! It was supposed to be a moisturizer but was too thin and eventually developed into this moisture mist. It is a milky toner with emollient oils. Such an excellent product for dry skin! This is also good for sensitive skin because it is fragrance-free. I love that this mist provides relief for dry skin and also helps soothe dehydrated skin as well. A product rarely does both!

One Love Organics Botanical C Facial Serum

One Love Organics Botanical C Serum is a jojoba oil and rosehip oil-based Vitamin C serum. The formulation uses plant-based oils naturally rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin C esters to help visibly brighten skin. This serum also has a light rose scent to it. It does absorb into the skin fairly quickly as well. It isn’t a facial oil that sits on the face. I like this enough, but I prefer other OLO products. I like their cleaners and facial mist more. As for vitamin c serums, I want something with a more liquid, aloe-like base. (The Lilfox Haute C comes to mind.)

One Love Organics Botanical E Youth Preservation Serum

Although the One Love Organics Botanical C Serum has a similar texture to the Botanical E Youth Preservation Serum, they are VASTLY different products. The texture of Botanical E is more of an emulsion, a mix between an oil and water-type texture. It feels silkier. The base of this serum is green tea seed oil, sunflower seed oil, and meadowfoam seed oil. This smells like cucumber, and I have found it to make my skin look hydrated and moisturized! Various fruit and plant extracts provide botanical Vitamin E to nourish the skin. The Botanical E Serum is my favorite of OLO’s serums!

Skin Savior Multi-Tasking Wonder Balm

The Skin Savior Wonder Balm is a multi-purpose pressed oil balm. The base of the balm is coconut oil, beeswax, and jojoba seed oil. This one does NOT absorb into the skin thoroughly. It is best for the last step of the nighttime skincare routine, as it locks in moisture with one of its main ingredients Chia Seed Oil. This Wonder Balm has a sweet orange scent. The Skin Savior can also be used as a makeup remover or mask. This is not my favorite One Love Organics product, but it is one that I do keep around and pull out from time to time. I prefer balms that absorb into the skin and don’t leave a residue.

Love + Charcoal Masque One Love Organics

The One Love Organics Love + Charcoal Masque is my FAVORITE charcoal mask. I love this mask because it doesn’t dry out my skin as many other charcoal masks have. This is a cream and aloe-based mask, yet it still detoxes the skin with ingredients like Charcoal and Kaolin Clay. It feels more like silly putty than hard clay when it dries down. I like this because I know that it isn’t sucking the natural oils and moisture from my skin but detoxing impurities that are there and leaving the good stuff with no irritation!

Love + Eyebright Eye Serum

The Love + Eyebright Eye Serum did not work for me. Unfortunately, it gave me milia. It has an oily texture and sits on my undereye region without fully absorbing. It has a great ingredient profile and cool roller ball packaging. I wanted to love Love + Eyebright, but it wasn’t for me.

Botanical C Body Polish

I LOVE the scent of The One Love Organics Botanical C Body Polish. It has that fantastic Pina Colada scent! Also, this scrub has pretty large organic sugar crystals to exfoliate the body. I like this polish because it doesn’t leave a residue. It can be used as a dry scrub and rinsed off, which promotes circulation! I love the Botanical C Body Polish and HIGHLY recommend it!

Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum

Another body care favorite from One Love Organics is the Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum. This spray oil smells fantastic. I love the scent of Gardenia! The base oils in this body serum are sunflower seed oil, green tea seed oil, and pumpkin seed oil. It is also rich in antioxidants to nourish the skin’s barrier. This oil is drier and absorbs into the skin, so I don’t feel oily and slimy. This Body Serum is unique, and I HIGHLY recommend it!
