Saie Dew Blush and Mascara 101

Sharing is caring!

Saie Beauty is one of the newer Clean at Sephora brands. They launched a couple of years back on their website and in Follain. At first, I picked up their clear brow butter and dew balm because I wanted to do a Saie Beauty Review. I wasn’t a big fan of either and cast the brand aside. Around Black Friday, I decided to pick up some more of their products, as they did a big sale. I purchased their mascara, liquid lip balm, and tinted moisturizer. I later picked up the new Dew Blush, because it is the only liquid blush that I have seen in clean beauty that comes in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. Read on to see my detailed Saie Beauty Review, which is Clean at Sephora.

BEST

Packaging

The packaging of Saie Beauty is clean, minimal, and sustainable. There is no plastic bubble wrap used in the shipping of Saie Beauty products. Instead, a bag of cotton balls wrapped in paper is placed on top of the items in the box. You can use the cotton balls after unpacking– and they are organic! I have liked the packaging and find it modern and thoughtful.

Mascara 101

My favorite Saie Beauty Product is their Mascara 101. It has a silicone wand with pointy tips at the end that allow access to those outer, hard-to-reach lashes. The tagline for this mascara is: “thick, bold, lifted lashes,” which is accurate! I get no smudging with this 100% natural mascara. The ingredient deck is not too shabby.

WORST

Dew Balm in Rosy Gold

A few things make the Rosy Gold Dew Balm by Saie Beauty the worst for me. First off, I’m not too fond of the texture. It is too oily. It also doesn’t illuminate, and it and looks more like an oil slick on my face. Lastly, the packaging causes too much product waste, it squeezes out, and I only need a small amount. Most of the product that comes out gets wiped into one of their cotton balls.

IN-BETWEEN

Dew Blush in Poppy

The Dew Blush is an in-between product because it doesn’t last long on the face. It quickly dissipates. Every time I use this, I put too much on, and a few hours later, it is gone from my cheeks. I like the application of it and how it looks when I first apply it. I had high hopes for the longevity of this liquid blush, but there are better things out there with a similar consistency (cough: Ilia Color Haze and Glossier Cloud Paint).

Brow Butter in Clear

The brow butter by Saie is a weird consistency. Where most brow products packaged like this are jelly-like in formulation, this one is a buttery balm. It’s borderline waxy. The balm consistency doesn’t allow for the best transfer from spoolie to brow. The butter is too thick, and so I end up scraping it off of the spoolie to warm it up and make it a bit oilier, rubbing the spoolie in the goop and applying from there. When I do this method, it sets my brows nicely, but that’s not how it is supposed to work. For optimum application, the intended application method isn’t practical.

Liquid Lip Balm

Alright, if anyone grew up in the ’90s and early-2000’s– you know this product. Saie Beauty did not necessarily reinvent the wheel here. It’s a squeeze tube lip balm that is buttery and creamy. It is moisturizing while on the lips, but more needs to be applied to keep that soft pucker once it wears down. This balm is not a pigmented product, and I have tried better lip balms. This product is fine, but it truly is nothing special.

Slip Tint

The Slip Tint is one that I struggled to categorize a bit. It is not a best because I prefer a thinner-oilier consistency in terms of skin tints (think Glossier, Ilia, and Kosas). The Slip Tint is a traditional tinted moisturizer in lotion form. It’s not unique. It wears fine on the skin but doesn’t have that special sauce to be a best.

Flat lay of Saie Beauty Products

After trying six of the Saie makeup items, I’d say that the best bet is their mascara. They have quite a few things that are just okay, but not worthy of running outside to tell the neighbors. Steer clear of the Dew Balm. It makes for good Instagram pictures, but that’s about it. I hope you enjoyed this Saie Beauty Review, the new Clean at Sephora brand.
