Okay, honesty time… When my husband and I started living together, I made him get rid of his Tevas, they were at least ten years old, they reminded me of sandals my dad and brothers wore in the nineties… Well, the ’90s are back, and Tevas are IN. I even picked up the Teva Hurricane XLT2 style!
Tevas belong in the same category as Uggs, Birkenstocks, and Crocs. They are “so ugly that somehow they are cute” shoes. Teva has collaborated with fashion houses like Anna Sui, The Row, and Christian Cowan. Teva has also taken on partnerships with the athleisure company Outdoor Voices, a little more on-brand for the company that creates shoes for the outdoorsman (and women).
I decided to pick up a couple of Teva sandals for my husband and myself after seeing an ad for a coral pair on Instagram. I went directly to the Teva website and discovered various pairs of monochrome sandals, with some in the same style as the ones my husband had, which I threw out. There were different strap options as well, some crossed over the foot in the shape of an “X” in front, and I got those in Pineneedle for my hubs. They were more masculine-looking to me. I got the coral pair that I saw in the ad for myself. The strap went along the outside of the foot, which I found pretty attractive.
I was quite pleased when my order arrived, and I found both pairs of sandals more attractive than their 90’s predecessor. The style I ordered was the HURRICANE XLT2 in Aragon. I chose a size 12, and they fit my narrow feet comfortably. I’m happy I purchased these and think they are the perfect walking shoe for summer.
Teva has partnered with TerraCycle to close the loop on their manufacturing process. Now, you can send your used Teva sandals back to Teva, and they will be made into new shoes. Check it out here.
