Choosing skincare products is no easy task because you cannot just pick any random product and apply it to your face, right? Josh Rosebrook Skincare is crafted using botanicals and natural ingredients from the earth. ALL the ingredients used in the products are non-toxic, non-synthetic, and eco-friendly.

When it comes to the range of skincare products by Josh Rosebrook, it is natural that not every product will work for everyone. While some may work amazingly well, some might not. But no worries because I have tried most of them, and I’ll give you all the deets so there won’t be any buyers remorse when purchasing Josh Rosebrook eco-luxe products!

Who Is Josh Rosebrook?

If you haven’t heard about Josh or his brand, you are really missing out. Josh Rosebrook is a cosmetologist originally from Portland, Oregon. While he was growing up, he styled the hair of kids in his neighborhood. When he was in his early 20s, he moved to LA to attend official cosmetology school. Backyard hairstyling could only take him so far in his youth.

While working as a hairdresser in LA, he started experimenting with natural ingredients and skincare, which led to his first creation, The Cacao Antioxidant Mask. From there, Josh Rosebrook has popped off in the skincare community.

Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream

BEST

Nutrient Day Cream Tinted SPF 30

I’m pale AF, and I always get concerned because “tinted” is such a loaded term… Do not get intimidated by the word because, unlike what it sounds like, the tint is subtle and will hardly be noticeable once it is applied.

This day cream claims to be a regenerating moisturizer, a primer, and a sunscreen, all in one. The SPF level is the standard dermatologist recommendation of 30, and I use a moisturizer under this. I’m not a minimalist in any way, shape, or form when it comes to my skincare routine. I also think that this formulation is too thin to give me the moisture level I want, but I like the thinness as an SPF.

The best thing about this product is that it blends into the skin seamlessly. I don’t get a white cast, and I get a nice bronzy glow from the finish.

The Nutrient Day Cream is unscented, fragrance-free, and doesn’t contain any essential oils- so it is pretty safe even for sensitive skin.

Josh Rosebrook Daily Acid Toner

To be straight up, I was a bit skeptical of this product, but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally bit the bullet and tried it. I was intimidated to use this because of the glycolic acid and phenethyl alcohol. My nerves get the best of me when adding actives to my routine, and I was so happy when these ingredients were gentle for me. I ended up using this every day, twice a day. Yeah, it’s THAT gentle.

This exfoliating and brightening skin toner makes the skin look glowing and has a kind of a honey-like scent. It also hydrates because of its aloe vera leaf juice base. I have seen amazing results while using this guy consistently!

Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream

This one smells like a dream! This balm is not extremely heavy or oily and glides onto the skin so smoothly. It is called a balm, but the consistency is more cream-like. This “balm” contains aloe vera, which is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant herbal actives. It also has Polysaccharide-rich Indian Senna Seed extract, which is excellent for hydrating your skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Another thing worth mentioning is that this product also has an unscented and essential oil-free version for those who prefer it.

Cacao Antioxidant Mask

The Cacao Antioxidant Mask is great for rejuvenating and purifying the skin and leaves skin fresh and glowy. The cacao antioxidants aid in collagen production and also triggers circulation, which leads to nutrient delivery.

The mask is excellent overall and will make your skin feel nourished. The only issue is it might feel a little dry to spread on your face. In that case, you can adjust a few drops of water, and you are good to go.

*Note: This guy smells AMAZING like those Christmas-time chocolate oranges that are wrapped in foil.

IN-BETWEEN

In Between products are always interesting to me, they often get left out of the conversation, but they are important to talk about! These specific products didn’t wow me, but they don’t deserve any major hate as well.

Essential Balm Cleanse

This is a luxurious and pH-balanced facial cleanser that claims to remove all dirt, pollution, and makeup effectively. It contains plant oils, in-house-made herbal extracts, blue-green algae, and chlorella to nourish your skin from within.

I do like the scent of this product; it is warm and reminds me of Christmas. I’m not fangirling because it has a tacky feel and leaves a residue on my face when I wash it off. I’m okay with doing a second cleanse, and I always do, but I prefer an emulsifying oil cleanser that rinses clean like this.

Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream

This all-in-one product acting as a moisturizer, primer, and sunscreen is a great option, and you might be a bit confused about how it was on the best list, and it is now in the In-Betweens.

The reason is that the old formulation of this is better than the new one (this is also the un-tinted version). They reformulated this, and it is not as thick as it was, and there is a white cast now. There are no significant issues with it, but I would recommend the tinted version above this one.

*Note: I have spoken with Josh regarding this formula, and they are, again, reformulating.

Active Infusion Oil

This Active Infusion Oil is a retinoid facial oil that contains stabilized Vitamin C to enhance the performance of the retinoid. It claims to deliver increased skin cell turnover and improve your skin’s overall texture and tone while working on the appearance of fine lines.

This one has made it to the in-between section because I usually go for jelly retinoid products. This is oil-based, and my ranking for it is truly a personal preference.

WORST

Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator

Everyone might be surprised that I’m not too fond of this. The Hydrating Accelerator is the most hyped Josh Rosebrook product. EVERYONE seems to love it. But, me!

This product claims to increase skin hydration and has a potent formula that penetrates deep into the skin. It contains aloe vera leaf juice and many essential oils, including jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil, grapeseed oil, sea buckthorn oil, and many more.

I did not like this product because of its scent (it smells like fresh kitty litter to me) and it is so active and uses multiple essential oils.

Advanced Hydration Mask

The Advanced Hydration Mask has an aloe vera base to replenish skin hydration. It also contains herbal anti-inflammatory ingredients and antioxidant actives to restore the skin’s protective barrier.

This product is in the worst section because it is so thick and occlusive. The base ingredients are mango seed butter, shea butter, and avocado oil. These are very thick oils, they may be nourishing, but they were too rich for my skin.

Active Enzyme Exfoliator

The Active Enzyme Exfoliator contains rich fruit, herbal enzymes, honey, and acids to exfoliate dead skin cells gently. It also has finely ground, ground walnut shells which help to exfoliate and stimulate collagen production manually.

I wasn’t a fan of this product because it has too much going on, with chemical and manual exfoliants. The ground walnut shells are not appealing to me as they can cause micro-tears on the skin’s surface.

Is Josh Rosebrook Cruelty-Free and Vegan?

Josh Rosebrook IS cruelty-free. Three products are not vegan as they use ethically sourced organic honey. Those products include Active Enzyme Exfoliator, Vital Balm Cream, and Complete Moisture Cleanse.

Where Is Josh Rosebrook Sold?

Conclusion

Josh Rosebrook does have great skincare products, and it is easy to see why his products have garnered a cult-like following. There are many products that I would, or have, repurchased and some that I can do without.

Skincare has many nuances to it, so what I hate others may love and vice-versa. Luckily, Josh Rosebrook Skincare has something for everyone!
